Lesson Introduction

Welcome, Little Mathematicians!

Today, we are going on a magical adventure! Are you ready? We’ll be superheroes and detectives, solving the mystery of the hidden numbers! 🦸‍♂️🔍

Setting the Scene

Gather around, everyone! Let’s close our eyes and imagine we’re in a magical forest where numbers hide behind trees and flowers. Can you hear the whispers of the numbers calling us? They want us to find them! 🌳✨

The Enchanted Basket

In front of me, I have an Enchanted Basket filled with shiny, colourful number cards, each with a number from 1 to 10. But wait! There’s a twist—some of them are hiding!

Activity

  1. Storytime Invitation:

    • “Once upon a time, in a beautiful enchanted forest, numbers loved to play hide and seek. They’ve hidden all around us! Our mission today is to find these wonderful numbers so they can join our adventure.”

  2. Magic Number Hunt:

    • “Let’s split into small groups! Each group will choose a special spot in our classroom to start the hunt. When you find a number card, shout out the number and do a little happy dance! 💃🕺 ”

  3. Counting Together:

    • After the hunt, we will share the numbers we found. Let’s count them together and see how many magical numbers we have collected!

  4. Creating a Number Wall:

    • We will create a Magical Number Wall with all the cards we have discovered. We can decorate it with glitter and stickers to make it even more enchanting!

Conclusion

Celebration Time! Once we finish our hunt and decorate our wall, let’s gather in a circle. We can talk about our favourite numbers and why they are special to us. Remember, numbers are our friends, and they help us in so many ways!
