Today, we are going to embark on an exciting journey to the Land of Measurement! Are you ready to become Measurement Masters? Grab your imaginary backpacks, and let’s hop on our magical measurement bus!
As our bus rolls down the road, let’s think about all the wonderful things we will measure today. Do you see that tree over there? How tall do you think it is? And look at that table in our classroom. Can we measure how long it is?
Now, let’s make our first stop at Measurement Mountain!
At Measurement Mountain, we will explore two main types of measurement: length and height. To help us in our adventure, we have some special tools: rulers, measuring tapes, and even our hands and feet!
Hand: Your hand can measure things too! Show me your hand. Now, let’s see how many hands long our classroom desk is. Who wants to help me?
Foot: Now, take off your shoes! Just kidding, keep them on! Let’s use our feet to measure how far we can jump! One foot, two feet… How far do you think we can jump across this line?
Now that we’re warmed up, we will grab our colourful rulers. Each of you will get a chance to partner up and measure the length of different items around the classroom!
After we’ve had our measuring fun, we’ll come together as a class to share what we measured. Each of you will tell us about one item you measured, and how you measured it.
By the end of this lesson, not only will you have learned how to measure things, but you will also have had tons of fun!
So, put on your thinking caps and get ready to turn into Measurement Wizards! Let’s make some magical measurements together!
