Today, we are going to embark on an exciting adventure into the magical world of writing! To begin our journey, let’s imagine that we are wizards and wizards-in-training, ready to cast our writing spells!
Gather in a Circle
Let’s sit in a circle on the carpet. We’re going to create a magical story together!
Story Starter
I’ll start the story with the words, “Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a…” and I will pause. Each one of you will add a word to continue the story. You could say “castle,” “dragon,” or even “pink unicorn!”
Building the Tale
Let’s go around the circle and add sentences to our story! Each student can contribute one sentence. As we build the story together, I will write it on the board, making sure to use our best spelling and punctuation.
After our circle story, we’ll talk about the key parts of a story: the setting, characters, and events. Then, it’s time for you to become a writer!
At the end of our lesson, we will have a “Story Share” where you can read your magical tales to the class. Everyone’s story is special, just like you!
