Hello, little learners! 🌟 Today, we're going to dive into the magical world of phonemics—the building blocks of our words! Are you ready to play with sounds? Let’s jump in!
Gather Around: Sit in a circle so everyone can see. Hold the storybook up high for everyone to see the cover.
Introduce the Toy: Bring out the stuffed animal and give it a name. "Meet Silly the Sound Monkey! He's going to help us find the sounds in our story!"
Read the Story: Begin reading the story aloud, pausing at key rhyming words and phonemes (e.g., “cat,” “bat,” “hat”). Use expressive sounds to engage the children.
Sound Clapping: When you come across a word that rhymes or has the same initial sounds, pause and clap your hands. Encourage the children to clap along!
Repeat the Sounds: After reading a few pages, ask the kids to join you in repeating the sounds or words that you highlighted together.
Sound Dance!: Create a short and fun “Sound Dance” to celebrate the different phonemes you found in the story. Each time you say a sound, everyone does a silly dance move that goes with it!
At the end of the session, have a little chat with the children. Ask them questions like:
End the lesson with a simple goodbye song, incorporating some of the sounds you learned about, to make the ending memorable and fun!
Remember, every sound we find is like a treasure in our language! 🌈 Let’s keep discovering together!
