G’day, mates! Today, we’re going to embark on an exciting mathematical adventure where we discover the magical world of counting by 2s! But before we dive in, let’s warm up our brains with a fun little story.
Once upon a time in the Aussie outback, there was a joyful kangaroo named Kiera. Kiera loved to hop around her home, and she counted her hops to keep track of how many jumps she made each day. Instead of counting each hop one by one, Kiera discovered a super fun trick: she could count her hops by 2s!
Can you imagine if Kiera hopped once and said, “1…” and then hopped again and yelled, “2”? But instead, she decided to hop twice before counting again, like this: “Hop, hop! 2, 4, 6!” She found out that counting by 2s made it so much easier and quicker to keep track of her fun!
Now, how about we pretend to be like Kiera? Here’s what we’ll do:
Group Activity: Let’s all stand up and pretend to be kangaroos. Every time I say “hop,” we’ll hop forward twice and count by 2s together!
Find Our Number: I have a special number for our final hop—let’s aim to reach it together!
Clap for Each Count: After our hops, every time we say a number like “2, 4, 6, 8,” we’ll give a clap to celebrate our counting!
