Good morning, little friends! Today we’re going to embark on an exciting adventure where we become explorers of thoughts and ideas! Have you ever played pretend? Maybe you imagined you were a superhero, or perhaps a doctor helping patients feel better. Well, today, we will use our imaginations even more as we dive into the world of dramatic play!
Let’s start our lesson with a magical story! Gather around, and listen closely:
Once upon a time in a colorful forest, there lived a wise old owl named Oliver. Oliver loved to share his ideas with all the forest animals. One day, he invited everyone to a party to talk about the biggest question of all: “What does it mean to be a good friend?” The animals excitedly prepared for the party, each thinking about what friendship truly means. They acted out different ways to show kindness, share ideas, and celebrate one another!
As we listen to this story, think about what it means to you to be a good friend. What special things do friends do for each other?
Now that we’ve heard our story, it’s time to bring our own ideas to life with dramatic play! Here’s what we’ll do:
Friendship Circle: Sit in a big circle. I want each of you to share one kind thing a friend can do. It could be helping, sharing toys, or even giving a hug!
Group Roles: After we’ve shared our ideas, let’s break up into small groups. Each group will choose a pretend scenario about friendship. For example, you could act out sharing a snack, playing together at the park, or even helping each other clean up.
Act It Out: Once you have your scenario, it’s time to bring it to life! Remember to use your voice and actions to show how friends take care of one another.
Reflect: After acting, we’ll come back together and share what we learned about being a good friend. How did it feel to pretend? What ideas did we discover together?
Today, we shared our thoughts on friendship and explored what it means through our dramatic play. Remember, philosophy is about asking questions and thinking deeply about how we live and act towards others.
As we end our adventure, always remember to be good friends not only in play but in everyday life, just like Oliver the owl taught us. What will you do this week to show kindness to someone?
Now, let’s get ready to play!
