🌈 Feelings in a Rainbow! 🌈

Objective:

To help preschoolers identify and express their feelings through a fun and interactive activity.

Introduction:

Hello, little friends! Today, we are going to take a magical journey into the world of feelings. Just like colors in a rainbow, our feelings come in all different shades! 🌈 Can anyone tell me what colors they see in a rainbow?

Activity Setup:

  1. Create a Rainbow Chart:

    • Draw a big rainbow on a piece of poster board or use a colorful blanket or cloth to represent a rainbow.
    • Label each color of the rainbow with different feelings. For example:
      • Red: Angry
      • Orange: Excited
      • Yellow: Happy
      • Green: Calm
      • Blue: Sad
      • Purple: Worried
  2. Feelings Game:

    • Gather the children around the rainbow.
    • Ask them to think of a time they felt a certain way. For example, "Has anyone ever felt really happy? What made you feel that way?"
    • Encourage them to share their thoughts and connect the feelings to the colors on the rainbow.
  3. Feelings Songs:

    • Sing a song about feelings, like "If You're Happy and You Know It," and substitute the verses with different emotions to reinforce the concepts learned.

Discussion:

Once everyone has had a chance to share, gather in a circle and:

Conclusion:

Remind the children that it's okay to have all sorts of feelings, and just like a rainbow, every feeling is beautiful! Let them know they can always talk about their feelings with trusted friends or adults.

Follow-Up:

Encourage the kids to create their own pieces of artwork by drawing their favorite color and expressing a feeling that matches it. This can be displayed on a "Feelings Wall" in the classroom!
