Lesson Procedure

Whole Group Discussion (10 minutes)
- Introduce culturally responsive teaching. Explain that it is an approach that recognizes the importance of including students' cultural references in all aspects of learning.
- Use examples to illustrate how culturally responsive materials and discussions can enhance understanding in the classroom.
- Ask students to think about how their cultural backgrounds influence their perspectives and learning.
Small Group Activity (10 minutes)
- Divide students into small groups and provide them with a selection of culturally diverse texts.
- Instruct groups to read through the texts and discuss:
- What cultural messages or values are present?
