Kick off the lesson by asking the students:
"If you were planning a campsite in one of these areas, how would you determine the best place to set up? What information would you need?"
As students discuss and share their thoughts, guide them towards the concept of area. Explain that calculating the area of different shapes will help them understand how much space they have for their campsite and how to make the best use of it.
"Today, we will be explorers in the world of shapes and areas! By the end of our adventure, you'll know how to calculate the area of various shapes so that you can efficiently plan your exploration and camping spots!"
Let’s grab our rulers and colored pencils, and head into the exciting world of Area! 🌍✏️
