The Story

Once upon a time at the carnival, there were 1 friendly puppy sitting by the entrance. As you walked in, you noticed 1 cute kitten with a shiny bell.

The Challenge

• How many animals are there in total?

  1 puppy + 1 kitten = ?

Hands-On Activity: The Adding Adventure

Materials Needed:

• 2 soft toys (a puppy and a kitten)
• 1 big smiley face card for each child
• Counting fingers!

Steps:

1. Show the Toys: Hold up the puppy and kitten. Ask the children, "How many do we have here?"
2. Count Aloud: Together with the class, count the toys.
