Fun Phonics Adventure: Let's Make Some Noise!

Objective

Today, we're going to embark on a fun phonics adventure! We'll learn about the sounds that letters make, and how these sounds fit together to create words. Are you ready to become a Phonics Explorer?

Introduction

To kick off our lesson, we are going to start with a Phonics Sound Hunt! Here’s how it works:

Gather Your Tools:
- Grab your “Phonics Explorer” worksheet (provided by your teacher).
- Get ready to use your listening ears and your detective eyes!
Sounding Out Words:
- I will say a word, and together we will clap out the sounds we hear in that word. For example, if I say “cat,” we will clap for each sound: /k/ /a/ /t/.
Exploration Time:
- Listen closely as I read a short story about a cat named Sam who goes on an adventure to find his missing toy. As I read, I want you to pay extra attention to the words that have the sounds we are learning today.
Sample Short Story:

Once upon a time, there was a curious cat named Sam. Sam had a soft hat and a big, fluffy tail. One sunny day, Sam woke up to find his favorite toy—a shiny ball. But the toy was gone! "Where did it go?" wondered Sam. With a little hop and a lot of hope, Sam set off to find his lost ball!
Clap It Out:
- As we read the story, let’s clap out the sounds in words like “cat,” “ball,” and “hat.”

Activity

After we finish the story, we’ll look at our worksheet, where you can draw a picture of your favorite sound from the story and write a word that uses that sound. Don’t forget to include your claps as we write!

Conclusion

To wrap up our lesson, we will share our drawings and words with the class. Each of you will have a chance to practice saying your word out loud and clapping out its sounds.
