Activity Instructions:

1. Create Your Treasure Cards: Let’s start by imagining we’re pirates on a treasure hunt! Each of you will receive a colorful treasure card. On each card, we’ll write a number. For today, let’s use the numbers 1 to 5!

2. Draw Your Treasure! On the back of your card, draw what you think the treasure looks like. It could be gold coins, jewels, or anything else that makes you think of treasure!

3. Gather Around the Treasure Box! Once everyone has their cards, we’ll put them in our treasure box.

Now, here comes the fun part! As a class, we’re going to take turns pulling out two treasure cards from the box.

• When we pull out a card, we’ll say the number aloud and then we’ll find out how many treasures we have in total by adding the two numbers together!

Example:

• If we pull out a 3 and a 2, we’ll shout together: “3 + 2 = 5!”
• Then we can draw our treasure on the board, showing that we have a total of 5 treasures!
