Good morning, class! 🌞 Today, we are going to embark on a magical journey through the exciting world of reading genres! Just like how a treasure map leads us to hidden gems, understanding different genres will help us discover amazing stories that spark our imagination.
To begin our adventure, I have a special surprise for you! 🎁 In front of me, I have a Genre Treasure Chest. Inside this chest, there are different colorful envelopes. Each envelope holds clues about a particular reading genre!
Divide into Teams: First, we'll split into small groups. Each group will get a turn to choose an envelope from the treasure chest.
Read the Clue: Inside each envelope, there will be a simple clue describing a specific genre—like "This genre takes you to magical lands and introduces you to wizards and fantastical creatures!" (Can you guess what genre that is? 🧙♂️)
Genre Guessing: After reading the clue, your team will have a minute to discuss and guess the genre! We’ll have genres like fantasy, mystery, adventure, and more!
Share with the Class: Once your team guesses the genre correctly, we will share it with the whole class. Each group will also share one book they know that falls into that genre.
After our treasure hunt, we will talk about why knowing genres is important. They help us choose books we’ll enjoy and can lead us to discover new favorites! 📚
