But wait! The numbers in the forest need our help! They’re in a bit of trouble and cannot find their way home. To assist them, we’ll need to solve some fun math puzzles that will lead us to the treasure hidden in the forest!

Adventure Begins!

Opening Activity: Counting Critters!

  1. Get Ready!

    • Grab your math notebooks and a pencil!
    • We’re going to find and count the critters that live in our Magical Number Forest.

  2. Let’s Go on a Counting Safari!

    • I will describe a critter that we might find in the forest, and you will help me count how many of them we see.
    • For example, if I say, “We see 3 silly squirrels and 2 hopping bunnies,” you’ll need to help me figure out how many animals are in total.

  3. Interactive Counting:

    • Question: What is 3 (squirrels) + 2 (bunnies)?
    • Answer Together: Let’s count on our fingers: 1, 2, 3…4, 5!
    • So, 3 + 2 equals 5 critters!

Preparing for Puzzles

Once we manage to count the critters, we will create some Number Maps in our notebooks to keep track of our discoveries. Each map will contain different addition and subtraction puzzles that will lead us closer to the treasure!
