Welcome Back to English: A Journey Begins!

Introduction to Our New Adventure

Teacher: "Welcome back everyone! I'm thrilled to see all of your smiling faces ready to dive into a brand new year filled with stories, creativity, and exciting discussions in English class. To kick off our adventure, I have a special activity planned for today!"

Activity: The "What's in a Name?" Challenge

Objective:

To encourage students to share something personal and creative while also practicing their speaking and listening skills.

Instructions:

  1. Name Tag Creation:

    • Each student will create a name tag that tells us more about them.
    • Use a large index card and write your name in bold letters.
    • Below your name, include three fun facts:
      • One thing you love (a hobby, a favorite book, etc.)
      • One interesting experience (a trip, a funny moment, etc.)
      • One goal for this year (academic, personal, or social).

  2. Gallery Walk:

    • Once everyone’s name tags are ready, we will hang them around the classroom.
    • Take a few minutes to walk around and read what your classmates have shared on their name tags.

  3. Share with the Class:

    • After the gallery walk, we will gather in a circle.
    • Each student will have a turn to present their name tag and share one favorite fact.
    • Listen attentively, and feel free to ask questions to get to know each other better!
