Today, we are going to embark on an exciting adventure exploring our five senses! Our senses help us learn about the world around us. Can you name the five senses? That’s right! They are:
To kick off our lesson, let’s gather in a circle and have a little chat! I will hold up different mystery items from our classroom. As I do, I want you to think about which sense we can use to explore each item.
I will present you with my Mystery Box filled with various items. Let’s make a game out of it!
Next, we will listen carefully! I will play different sounds for you to hear. Listen closely and tell me what you think they are. After each sound, we will discuss how we use our sense of hearing!
Let’s not forget about our sense of taste! If possible, we’ll have a little tasting session with safe foods. We will close our eyes and focus on the flavors. Was it sweet, salty, sour, or bitter?
Lastly, I will set up Smell Stations around the room with different scents (like vanilla, orange peels, or herbs). You will take a whiff and draw what you think the smell reminds you of.
After we’ve explored all five senses, we will sit together and share our favorite experiences from the scavenger hunt! Let’s get ready to discover the world around us with our amazing senses. Are you excited? I know I am!
Remember, it’s all about using our senses to learn, explore, and have fun! Now, who wants to go first at the Mystery Box?
