To kickstart our lesson, we will go on a Great Word Hunt! Here’s how it works:
Create Teams: Everyone will be divided into small teams of 3-4 students. Grab your explorer buddies!
Treasure Maps: Each team will receive a treasure map (aka a list of words) filled with exciting English words. These words will help us explore new ideas and thoughts.
Clue Gathering: As a team, you'll have 10 minutes to search through your classroom or library to find objects or pictures that represent the words on your map. For example, if you find the word "sun," you might look for a picture of the sun or even a yellow ball!
Exploring words helps us understand how to express ourselves better. The more words we know, the easier it is to share our thoughts and stories with others!
Once we return from our word hunt, we’ll share what we found. Each team will have a chance to present one or two of their favorite words and the objects they discovered. This is a great opportunity to practice speaking, listening, and sharing ideas!
