Introduction (5 minutes)

- Explain that a noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
- Provide examples that students can relate to (e.g., teacher, school, apple, love).
Direct Instruction (10 minutes)

Types of Nouns:
- Common Nouns: Explain that these are general names for a person, place, or thing (e.g., boy, city, car).
- Proper Nouns: Describe how these are specific names and always start with a capital letter (e.g., James, New York, Honda).

- Show picture cards that depict various nouns and ask students to categorize them as common or proper.
- Engage students in discussion, prompting them to reason why a noun is common or proper.
Guided Practice (5 minutes)
- Activity:
- Distribute the prepared worksheets which have a mix of common and proper nouns.
- Allow students to work in pairs to circle common nouns in one color and proper nouns in another color.
- Circulate: Walk around to provide assistance and check for understanding.
Independent Practice (5 minutes)
- Sentence Creation:
- Ask students to write 2-3 sentences using at least one common noun and one proper noun.
- Encourage them to illustrate their sentences with drawings.
