Fluency helps us understand stories better and makes reading more enjoyable. When we read with fluency, we can share the heart of the story with others, just like a superhero shares their courage! 🌟
Before we dive into our reading materials, let’s warm up our reading voices! I have a special challenge for you. We're going to practice some magical words that can change their sounds when letters are added or taken away.
1. The “y” Sound Challenge:
Let’s look at some words that end with “y.” They'll help us hear the difference between the “i” and “e” sounds. I will say a word, and I want you to repeat it after me with a big smile. You can even do a little dance to make it fun!
2. The Silent “e” Magic:
Now, let’s explore words that use a silent e. When we add an e to some words, it can change everything! I’ll say a word, and then you can say it too. Remember to use the tone of a storyteller when you repeat this!
After our warm-ups, we are going to read a story together about a kind little puppy named “Brave Buddy.” In this story, we’ll see how he shows compassion, courage, and helps his friends.
As we read, listen carefully for the inflections in the words that tell us how Buddy feels. Use what you've learned about fluency to read along with me, making special voices when characters are happy, sad, or brave!
