In the ever-changing landscape of education, the social and emotional development of high-functioning, self-contained students has become increasingly important. This curriculum introduces the core concepts of self-awareness and social awareness, utilizing resources such as ReThink, GoZen, MindUp, SEL/SEAD, and CASEL. Focused on NHES Standards 1, 4, 5, and 7, as well as CASEL Competencies in Self-Awareness and Social Awareness, students will engage in lessons designed to help them recognize their emotions, understand their identity, and appreciate the diversity of their peer group.
The goal of this unit is to enable students to recognize and express their emotions, identify personal values and strengths, and show respect for others as they build relationships within a new group setting. This curriculum forms the foundation of emotional wellness and personal identity that students will use throughout their lives.
By the end of Quarter 1, students will be able to:
