As you walk in, the cheerful waiter greets you with a smile and says, “Bonjour!” What do you respond with? Would you know how to chat with the locals?

Activity: Online Café Role-Play

To kick off our lesson on French greetings, we'll bring the café experience to you! You will join a virtual café role-play where some of you will take on the roles of the café staff, and others will be the customers.

1. Preparation:

   • Form small groups of 4-5 students.
   • Each group will select a waiter or a customer to represent.

2. Task:

   • The ‘waiters’ will prepare a few greeting phrases in French, such as:
     • Bonjour (Good morning)
     • Bon après-midi (Good afternoon)
     • Bonsoir (Good evening)
   • The ‘customers’ will respond using the appropriate greetings and then ask simple questions, such as:
     • Ça va? (How are you?)
     • Comment vous appelez-vous? (What is your name?)

3. Perform:

   • Groups will perform their café scenarios for the class. Emphasize proper pronunciation and body language, as if you were genuinely interacting in a French café.
