1. Attention Grabber:

   • Gather the students in a circle and show them the treasure chest. Explain that inside the treasure chest are special coins representing different values in our number system.

2. Setting the Scene:

   • Tell the story: "Once upon a time, in the Land of Numbers, there was a magical treasure chest filled with coins of different values. Each coin held a secret about place value, and it’s our mission to uncover those secrets today!"

Activity Instructions (15 minutes):

1. Treasure Coin Discovery:

   • Hand out the colorful paper "treasure coins" and explain their values. Use this time to reinforce the idea that:
     • Each 1 coin is worth one unit
     • Each 10 coin is worth ten units
     • Each 100 coin is worth one hundred units

2. Group Treasure Hunt:

   • Divide students into small groups. Each group will take turns "hunting" for coins hidden around the classroom.
   • When they find a coin, they will return to their group's area and place it on their large paper. Encourage them to arrange the coins by value (1s, 10s, 100s) to visualize their number.
