Gather your little learners in a cozy area of the classroom, perhaps on a colourful carpet or in a circle on soft cushions. Dim the lights slightly to create a warm, inviting atmosphere as you prepare to dive into the world of emotions.

The Emotion Express Train

Materials Needed:

• Colourful train cutouts (red, blue, yellow, green)
• Emotion faces (happy, sad, angry, surprised)
• A small box or basket for each train carriage
• Music: A cheerful, playful tune

Activity Instructions:

1. Introduce the Emotion Express Train:

   • Begin by announcing that today we are going on a special journey aboard the "Emotion Express Train"!
   • Show the colourful train cutouts and explain that each train carriage represents a different emotion.

2. Gather the Emotions:

   • Invite the children to each choose an emotion face from a selection and share a time when they felt that emotion.
     • Example Prompt: "Can anyone tell me a time when they felt happy? What made you feel this way?"

3. Create Your Own Emotion Carriage:

   • As children share their stories, gather the emotion faces and place them in the corresponding train carriage. Encourage them to make expressive sounds or gestures that match their emotion!
   • Prompt them with questions: "What does a happy face look like? How do we show we are surprised?"

4. Ride the Emotion Express:

   • Once the carriages are filled, play cheerful music and lead the children in a fun, guided "train ride."
   • As the music plays, have the children move like different emotions (fast for excitement, slow and droopy for sadness, etc.).

5. Wrap Up:

   • Bring the train back to the station and sit in a circle. Reflect on the day's journey by asking children what their favourite emotion was to express and why.
   • Highlight that it's okay to feel all emotions – they all make us unique!
