- A small mirror for each student
- Art supplies (crayons, paper)
- A puppet or stuffed animal
- Emotional storybook (e.g., "The Feelings Book" by Todd Parr)
Introduction (5 minutes)
Begin the lesson by gathering the children in a circle. Introduce the topic of emotions by asking:
- "How do you feel today?"
- Encourage students to share their feelings using simple sentences.
Present the emotion flashcards and introduce each emotion by saying the name and making faces that match. Engage students by asking them to show the same expression.
Main Activity (15 minutes)
Emotion Charades (10 minutes)
-
Instructions:
- Explain to the students that they will play a game called "Emotion Charades."
- Choose a student to act out a specific emotion using their body and facial expressions without using words.
- The other students will guess the emotion.
-
Play the Game:
- Rotate through several students, allowing each one a chance to act and guess.
Art Activity (5 minutes)
- Drawing Emotions:
- Give each student a piece of paper and crayons.
- Ask them to draw a face that represents how they feel today.
- Encourage them to use colors that they think match their emotions.
Story Time (5 minutes)

- "How do you think the character feels right now?"
- "Have you ever felt this way?"
Encourage students to relate to the story and discuss their feelings.
Reflection and Closing (5 minutes)
Group Discussion
- Feelings Review:
- Ask each student to share their drawing or a time they felt one of the emotions discussed.
- Emphasize empathy by encouraging them to listen and respond to each other's feelings.
Goodbye Circle
End with a brief relaxation exercise. Have students sit quietly, close their eyes, and take deep breaths together. Remind them that it's okay to feel all kinds of emotions.
