Today, we will explore our feelings by learning how to express happiness and sadness in Spanish. Our goal is to help everyone understand that all feelings are okay and that we can share them with friends.
Begin by singing a fun and engaging song about feelings in Spanish, such as:
🎶 "Si estás feliz y lo sabes, aplaude así... (If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands...) 🎶
You can find a simple tune that the children are familiar with, and insert more verses about feeling sad:
🎶 "Si estás triste y lo sabes, pon tu cara así..." (If you're sad and you know it, make a sad face...) 🎶
Make sure to use expressive gestures to convey each feeling, encouraging the children to join in!
Next, we'll play a game of Feelings Charades.
Finally, create a "Feelings Faces" Chart!
Gather the students in a circle and encourage them to share a moment when they felt feliz or triste. Reiterate that it’s perfectly normal to experience these feelings and that talking about them is a great way to feel better.
With this engaging start, the students will feel excited and comfortable exploring social-emotional learning in Spanish!
