It was a bright and sunny day at Sunnyvale Primary School. The students could hardly wait for recess. They all loved running, jumping, and playing on the playground. But before the bell rang, Ms. Johnson, their teacher, reminded them about playground safety. "Remember, children, playing safely is important!" she said.
As the bell rang, everyone raced out to the playground. There were swings, slides, and climbing frames all waiting for them. Jake, Emma, and Lily ran towards the swings.
“Let's have a swing contest!” Jake shouted. They all took turns swinging as high as they could.
“Look at me! I can touch the clouds!” Emma giggled as she swung higher.
Suddenly, dark clouds appeared in the sky, and the wind started to blow. "Uh-oh! It looks like rain!" Lily exclaimed.
Remembering what Ms. Johnson said, Lily raised her hands and shouted, “Everyone, let’s be safe! If it starts to rain, we should stay under the shelter!”
The children all stopped swinging and looked up at the sky. The clouds were getting darker, and a few drops of rain began to fall.
“Quick! To the shelter!” Jake called as he started running toward the covered area. Emma and Lily quickly followed.
When they reached the shelter, they all huddled together, laughing and talking about their swings. They watched as the rain pattered on the ground outside.
While waiting for the rain to stop, their friend Sam came running over. “What are you doing under here?” he asked, shaking his wet hair. “I thought you kids loved the rain!”
“We do,” said Emma, “but it’s important to stay safe. If it gets too wet, we might slip and fall!”
“That’s right,” said Lily. “Our teacher told us that staying out of the rain helps prevent us from getting sick. Plus, it keeps the playground safe for everyone!”
After a while, the rain stopped, and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky. “Look at that!” Sam pointed. “It’s so pretty!”
“Wow! Let’s go play again!” Jake said excitedly.
The children waited a little longer, just to be sure the ground was safe and dry. Finally, they saw that the sun was shining brightly again, and the rain had stopped completely.
“Let’s play tag!” suggested Lily.
“Good idea!” everyone shouted in excitement.
As they played, they remembered to keep their eyes open. They didn’t want anyone to trip or get hurt. They ran around the playground, laughing and enjoying their time together.
When the bell rang, calling them back to class, they knew they had done a great job playing safely.
“Good job, everyone!” Ms. Johnson greeted them when they got back to the classroom. “Playing safely and helping each other is what we like to see at Sunnyvale Primary School! Plus, you all remembered to stay dry!”
The children smiled, proud of their safe play. They knew that safety in the playground was important, especially on rainy days.
And from that day on, everyone at Sunnyvale Primary School remembered to play safe, stay dry, and look out for each other!
