Materials Required:

Lesson Content:

  1. Introduction:

    • Start by asking the students if they know how to count numbers. Let them count by using their fingers. Encourage them to count as far as they can.
    • Then, ask them if they know what each number looks like, and show them the flashcards you’ve prepared.
  2. Practice counting using fingers:

    • Ask students to practice counting again, this time using their fingers, and the numbers on the flashcards for reference.
    • Encourage them to count out loud as they point to each finger or each number.
  3. Introduce picture cards:

    • Display the picture cards to the students. Point out the number and ask them to name the object on each of the picture cards.
    • Then ask for a volunteer to hold up a flashcard with the number, and then have the class match the number to the corresponding picture card.
  4. Practice matching numbers:

    • Once the students have had a chance to match the numbers and objects, have them try it on their own.
    • Give each student a picture card and a corresponding flashcard and ask them to match their number with the object on the card they were given.
  5. Closing:

    • To wrap up the lesson, ask the students to count from 1 to 5 one more time using their fingers. Congratulate them on their hard work, and remind them that practicing counting and matching numbers will help them to become better at recognizing numbers.
