Gather around, friends! I have a wonderful story to share with you. “The First Day of School” is about a little character named Max who is very excited (and a little nervous) about starting school. As we read, think about how Max feels and how you feel today!

  1. Listen Closely: I’ll read the story aloud. Notice the words and illustrations!
  2. Pause & Share: After every few pages, I will pause and ask you:
    • How do you think Max is feeling?
    • What do you think happens next?
  3. Draw Your Feelings: After we finish the story, we’ll take a few minutes to draw how we feel about starting school!
