Gather the students in a semi-circle, creating an inviting atmosphere around the cozy reading corner. Hold up the colorful book and say:
"Welcome, young wizards and witches of the reading world! Today, we will embark on a magical journey through the land of stories and knowledge. But first, let me show you the secret to unlocking the power of reading."
With a flourish of your wand, chant:
"With this wand, I cast a spell,
To open books and read them well.
With every page, worlds will appear,
Adventures waiting, just come near!"
After showing some excitement, ask the students to repeat the spell after you.
Now, ask the students to close their eyes for a moment and imagine where they would like to go if they could open a book and step inside.
After a moment, invite a few students to share their ideas with the class. Encourage them to use descriptive language.
"Today, we’re going to explore different kinds of stories, characters, and worlds through reading. And just like how we imagined our adventures and excitement, we will learn how to dive into books and discover the magic hidden in every paragraph. So, are you ready to unlock the power of reading and create your own stories?"
Transition into the lesson by explaining the goals:
This interactive beginning not only captures the students' attention but also encourages them to think creatively about reading. Through imaginative engagement, you set a positive tone and help students feel excited about the learning journey ahead!
Let's begin our adventure together! 📚✨
