Imagine walking into a bustling marketplace, surrounded by vibrant stalls, each representing a different business opportunity. As you step through the entrance, a world of creativity, strategy, and financial savvy unfolds before you. Welcome to our Business course!
To kick off our course, we’re going to embark on a unique journey that will shape our understanding of the business world. You will participate in a fun and interactive activity called the Marketplace Challenge.
Team Formation: Break into small groups of 4-5 students. Each team will start as an "entrepreneurial startup."
Business Brainstorming: Spend 10 minutes brainstorming ideas for a product or service your startup will offer. Consider:
Pitch Preparation: After brainstorming, take another 10 minutes to prepare a 1-minute pitch for your product or service, outlining its benefits and target market.
Marketplace Simulation: Each group will then present their pitch to the class, as if we’re in a real marketplace. After a round of pitches, everyone will vote on their favorite idea.
After the Marketplace Challenge, we will gather insights and discussions from each team’s ideas and presentations. This will not only help us define the course expectations, but will also emphasize the key skills we will develop throughout the semester, such as:
