"Bonjour, classe! Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. Today, we're going to have a fun lesson where we’ll practice greeting each other and sharing what we did over the summer in French.
First, let’s learn some key vocabulary we will use today. Please repeat after me:
These are expressions we will use to talk about our summer activities! Are you ready?"
"Now, I will hand out some printable cards to each of you. This card is where you're going to write down what you did during the summer.
Look at the top of the card; there are sections for you to fill in your name, your summer activities, and what you liked about them. Use the vocabulary we just practiced. If you have any questions while filling out your card, raise your hand, and I will help you. Let’s get started!"
"You have five minutes to fill out your cards. Remember to use the vocabulary we learned! Don't worry if you can't write everything perfectly; just do your best. I will walk around and check on everyone. Ready? Go!"
"Time's up, everyone! Now it’s time for a more exciting part. You'll get into small groups, and I want you to share what you wrote on your cards with each other. You can start by greeting your classmates with 'Bonjour!' and then take turns sharing your activities.
Make sure to listen carefully to your friends as they speak. I’ll give you 10 minutes to chat! Let's begin."
"Alright, everyone, let's pause our discussions. I’d like you to pass your cards to me now. I want to check a few randomly to see how well you used the vocabulary. If you made a mistake, don’t worry! I’m here to help you improve. I’ll be looking for interesting activities you wrote about and how you expressed them in French!"
"Great job today, everyone! You all did wonderfully sharing your summer activities. Let’s quickly recap some of the vocabulary we learned today. Can anyone remind me how to say 'I did'? Yes! It's 'J'ai fait.'
I encourage you all to keep using French this week, even outside of class! Maybe you can teach your family or friends the greetings we practiced today. Thank you for your great participation, and see you next time!"
