To spark students' interest and encourage engagement through a playful treasure hunt that focuses on counting and number recognition.
Set the Scene: Gather the children in a circle and tell them a short story about a pirate or a treasure hunter who has hidden shiny objects (toys) around the classroom. Explain that these objects are special treasure, and we need their help to find them!
Explain the Task: Show them the treasure map. Explain that for every treasure they find, they will need to count it and place it in their basket. This way, we can see how much treasure we have collected at the end of our adventure!
The Hunt Begins: Give them a two-minute countdown to explore and find as many treasures as they can. Encourage them to call out the numbers aloud as they gather their treasures. For example, "I found 1 car!" or "Look, I have 2 lovely butterflies!"
