Attention, young explorers! Today, we are going on a fun adventure to discover a very special word: Matter! Matter is everything we can see and touch around us. It can be solid, like a rock or a toy; it can be liquid, like juice or water; and it can even be gas, like the air we breathe.
To kick off our lesson, we will start with a Mystery Box!
Prepare a Surprise Box: Place several small items inside a box (e.g., a ball, a plastic bottle with water, a balloon). Make sure the items represent different states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
Invite Students to Guess: Tell the students that the box contains items that represent matter. Without looking, they will each take turns feeling an item and guessing what it is and what type of matter it represents.
Discussion: After each student has had a turn, encourage discussion by asking:
