Welcome to Our Personal Development Lesson: The Zones of Regulation!

Introduction to Our Adventure

Hello, Class 3! 🌟 Today, we're going on an exciting adventure to explore our feelings and emotions through something called the Zones of Regulation. Have you ever noticed how sometimes you feel really happy and excited, and other times you might feel a little sad or angry? That’s something we all experience, and it's perfectly okay!

What's This All About?

Imagine you have a treasure map that helps you locate different feelings. The Zones of Regulation is like that map! It has four special zones which show how we might feel at different times. Each zone represents a different kind of feeling.

The Four Zones

  1. The Green Zone: This is where we feel calm, happy, and focused. It’s like being in the sunshine on a lovely day! 🌞

  2. The Yellow Zone: In this zone, you might feel a bit anxious or worried. It's not too bad but it's good to be aware of it! Think of it like the sky before a storm—cloudy but not raining yet. ☁️

  3. The Red Zone: Whoa! This zone is for when our feelings get BIG! You might feel angry, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Imagine a volcano about to erupt! 🌋

  4. The Blue Zone: We feel a bit down, tired, or sad in this zone. It’s like a rainy day where you just want to snuggle up with a blanket. ☔

Let's Start Our Journey!

To kick off our lesson, I have a fun activity for you!

Activity: Feeling Monster Match!

  1. Materials Needed: Stories, pictures, or examples of different feelings (happy, sad, angry, etc.). You can draw faces or use stickers too!

  2. Instructions:

    • I will read out a scenario or a short story about a character who feels a certain way.
    • Your job is to decide which zone that character belongs to and place their picture or sticker in the correct zone on our interactive Zones of Regulation chart in the classroom.
  3. Discussion: After we finish our game, we'll discuss how we all feel sometimes and how understanding our emotions can help us better manage them.

Conclusion

Through today’s lesson and our fun activity, we will learn how our feelings change and how to recognise where we are on our feelings map! So, are you ready to discover which zone you’re in today? Let's have a fantastic time together! 💖
