To engage students and introduce new vocabulary in a fun, interactive way.
Start the lesson by entering the classroom with a mysterious box or bag. Make an exaggerated, suspenseful facial expression and say:
"Hello, class! Today, I brought a special surprise. Inside this box is something magical that will help us learn new words!"
Tell the students that they will take turns picking one object (or image) from the box. As they pull it out, encourage gasps and excited murmurs from their classmates.
Once an object is revealed, ask the student to describe it using as many words as they can. For example:
After this description, guide the class to use the word in a sentence together.
Let the class know that they will be using these new words in stories, games, and activities throughout the lesson.
Wrap up this opening by saying:
"Today, we will dive deeper into these words and discover new ones! Are you ready to become word wizards?"
This engaging activity not only stimulates curiosity but also actively involves students in their learning process, setting a positive tone for the lesson ahead!
