Today, we’re going to embark on an exciting journey through our Solar System. By the end of the lesson, you'll be able to name the planets, describe their unique features, and understand their order from the Sun!
As we gather today, imagine you are astronauts preparing for a mission to explore the Solar System! To kick off our lesson, we’ll start with a fun scavenger hunt that will lead us to discover amazing facts about each planet.
Preparation: Before class, inflate the balloons and write the names of the planets on them (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune). Attach a fact card about each planet to its corresponding balloon.
Hiding the Planets: Place the balloons around the classroom in various spots. Make sure they are visible but not too easy to find!
Exploration Begins:
Discussion: Once the scavenger hunt is complete, bring the class back together. Have each group share the planet they focused on and the fact they found. This will help everyone learn a bit about each planet!
Class Chart: After the sharing session, we will create a large chart on the board outlining the Solar System. Each group will contribute their planet and fact, helping us visualize our entire solar neighborhood.
Now that we’ve gathered some remarkable facts, let’s dive deeper! We’ll explore the incredible attributes of each planet, the mysteries of their atmospheres, and how they orbit our Sun.
Prepare your notebooks, astronauts! Let's get ready for an out-of-this-world science adventure!
