- Gather the students in a circle and show them the Mystery Box. Tell them that today, they are going on a phonics adventure and the box contains surprises that will help them unlock new sounds and letters.

- Invite a student to come up and choose an item from the Mystery Box without showing it to the class. As they hold the object or picture, the other students will take turns guessing what it is based on its phonetic sound. For example, if the item is a "cat," students might say, "Does it start with the /k/ sound?"

- Once the object is guessed correctly, reveal the item and discuss its phonetic sound. Write the letter associated with that sound on the board. For the cat, write the letter "C" and emphasize: “The letter C makes the /k/ sound.”

- Explain that phonics is all about understanding the sounds that letters make, which helps us read and write. Invite students to think about other words that start with the same sound. For instance, for "cat," they could say "car," "cup," and "cow."
