Short Story

The Lost Puppy

One sunny afternoon, a little girl named Emily went to the park with her family. While playing on the swings, she noticed a small, brown puppy sitting all alone by a tree. The puppy looked lost and scared. Emily’s heart melted, and she decided to approach the puppy gently.

"Hello there, little one," she said softly. The puppy wagged its tail but didn’t move closer. Emily knelt down and called the puppy again, "Come here, sweet puppy." After a moment of hesitation, the puppy slowly walked towards her. Emily could see that it had a collar, but there was no tag on it.

Determined to help, Emily decided to take the puppy home. Once at home, she asked her parents if they could keep the puppy until it found its owner. Her parents agreed, and they named the puppy Max. They put up posters around the neighbourhood and shared Max's picture on social media.

After two days, a family came to their house, looking worried. They saw Max in the backyard and rushed over. “Max! We’ve been searching for you everywhere!” the little boy exclaimed, hugging the puppy tightly. Emily felt a mix of sadness and happiness. She was sad to see Max go, but happy that he was back with his family.

Emily waved goodbye as Max wagged his tail and trotted away. She knew she had done the right thing, and that made her smile.
