Welcome to a vibrant and exciting lesson on Multiplication! Today, we're going to explore the wonderful world of multiplying by 4s, specifically from 4 x 1 to 4 x 12. To kick off our adventure, we are throwing a Multiplication Fiesta!
By the end of this lesson, you will:
Imagine we are in a busy village square filled with colorful stalls and joyful music. Everywhere you look, exciting activities await you, just like in math! At our Multiplication Fiesta, there are several stalls, each representing a number from 1 to 12. Each stall has a special "4s challenge" for you to conquer.
In the center of the square stands a giant clock with its hands pointing to our magic number 4. This clock will help us keep track of our challenges! As we go from 4 x 1 all the way to 4 x 12, we will not only learn multiplication but also take part in exciting games!
For our first challenge, each student will have a balloon with a multiplication problem on it. For example, "4 x 3".
As you take part in the “4 Balloon Pop” challenge, think about how multiplication is just a quick way of adding the same number over and over again. For example, 4 x 3 is the same as saying 4 + 4 + 4!
Did you know that knowing your multiplication tables makes you a Math Superhero? Multiplying helps us in everyday scenarios like shopping, cooking, and even playing games!
At the end of the lesson, we’ll have a quick dance break! As we groove to some music, we’ll chant our 4s together:
