Hello, Year 3 students! Today, we're going to embark on an exciting adventure to discover our amazing planet, Earth. Are you ready? Let’s dive into the wonders that surround us!
To spark curiosity about the Earth and its features through a fun interactive activity!
Treasure Box Setup: Before the lesson, place your beautiful Earth postcards inside the treasure box, along with some stickers and markers.
The Big Reveal: As students enter the classroom, have the treasure box hidden behind a curtain or a table. When everyone is settled, reveal the treasure box and say,
“Inside this box lies the key to discovering the Earth! Who wants to unlock this treasure and explore the planet with me?”
Choose a Map: Invite a few eager students to come up and choose one postcard each. As they pick a postcard, encourage them to share what they think about the image—what do they see, where do they think it is, and how it relates to our planet.
Decorate Your Postcards: Once every student has selected a postcard, pass around the markers and stickers. Ask the students to decorate their postcards, adding details about their favourite things on Earth, such as animals, plants, or places.
Share Your Thoughts: After decorating, gather the students in a circle. Allow each student to present their postcard and share one interesting fact or idea about what they see. This creates a sharing atmosphere and builds excitement for the lesson ahead!
With our postcards as inspiration, we’re ready to learn more about Earth’s amazing landscapes, climates, and the incredible life that calls our planet home! Get your thinking caps on because our journey through Earth’s wonders starts now!
Let’s explore together! 🌏✨
