Procedure

- Define biome as a large geographic area with similar climate, plants, and animals.
- Use a visual aid to explain the different types of biomes (e.g. tropical rainforest, desert, tundra, etc.)
- Ask students to name some biomes they are familiar with.

Biomes of South America (20 minutes)
- Introduce the biome map of South America and display it on the projector.
- Ask students to identify and locate the different biomes on the map.
- Provide handouts with descriptions of each biome and ask students to read and summarize their characteristics.
- After reading, ask students to share what they learned about each biome.

Impact of Human Activity (15 minutes)
- Explain that human activity (such as deforestation, mining, and urbanization) has affected the biomes of South America.
- Use a visual aid to show the impact of human activity in different biomes.
- Discuss with students the consequences of this impact on the natural world, including loss of biodiversity and climate change.
