Lesson Introduction: Discovering Our Families in French

🎉 Welcome to the Family Fun Day! 🎉

Objective: Today, we are going to learn about our families in French! We will talk about who is in our families and how to say their names in French.

🏡 Let's Create a Family Tree!

1. Storytime with a Twist 📖

To kick off our lesson, let's gather in a circle and share a special story about a family! I will read a short, delightful story about La Famille Bonheur, which is a story about a happy family consisting of a mother, father, two children, and a pet dog. As we read, I will pause to ask questions like:

This will help us get excited about learning new words!

2. Sing a Song! 🎶

After we finish the story, let's sing a fun song about family members! Here's a simple version of the classic tune, "Frère Jacques," but with our own family twist:

Maman, Maman,
Où es-tu? Où es-tu?
Je suis ici, je suis ici,
À la maison, à la maison.

This translates to “Mom, Mom, where are you? I am here, at home.” Children can sing along, making it interactive and lively!

3. Color and Create! 🎨

Now, it’s time for some creative fun! Each child will receive a mini family tree worksheet. They can draw pictures of their family members and label them in French:

As they create their family trees, I will walk around and help them pronounce the words correctly!
