Hello, young mathematicians! 🎉 Are you ready for a fun adventure into the world of sorting numbers? Today, we’re going to use our eyes, our hands, and our brains to explore the exciting world of sorting up to 20!
Get Ready!
Gather around and look at the colorful shapes in front of you. Each shape has its own special color!
Set the Stage:
Explain that we will have a “Sorting Hat Parade.” Just like in our favorite stories, where characters are sorted into different houses, we will sort our shapes based on their colors and types!
Sorting Time!
Set the timer for 3 minutes. In that time, everyone must pick up as many shapes as they can and sort them into the right basket according to their color and type. For example, all the red circles go in one basket, and all the blue triangles in another!
Team Up!
After sorting, gather in pairs and share how many shapes you each sorted. Use your voices loudly and proudly as you count together! 🎉
Wrap-Up:
Discuss:
Now that we’ve warmed up with our sorting activity, we’re ready to dive into sorting numbers up to 20! Remember, just like sorting shapes, numbers can also be grouped and organized in many different ways. Let’s have some fun sorting numbers together! 📊✨
Are you excited? I know I am! Let’s jump into our next activity!
