It was a sunny morning, and all the kids were getting ready for the first day of school. Everyone was so excited! Lily, a little girl with bright blue shoes and a sparkly backpack, could hardly wait. She brushed her hair and ate a big bowl of cereal.
"Are you ready, Lily?" her mom asked.
"Yes! I want to see my friends!" Lily replied with a big smile.
When Lily arrived at school, she saw many familiar faces. Her best friend, Jake, waved at her. “Hi, Lily! I missed you!” he shouted, jumping up and down.
“I missed you too, Jake!” Lily said as she ran over to him.
Once they entered their classroom, they saw colorful pictures on the walls. There were flowers, animals, and letters everywhere! Their teacher, Mrs. Smith, smiled at them. “Welcome to a new school year, everyone!” she said cheerfully.
Mrs. Smith told them they would play a fun game to get to know each other. Everyone sat in a circle. Each child had to say their name and favorite color.
Lily said, “My name is Lily, and my favorite color is blue!”
Jake said, “I’m Jake, and my favorite color is red!”
They each took turns, and soon the room was full of laughter and excitement. Lily made a new friend named Emma, who loved purple!
After the introductions, it was time for some learning. Mrs. Smith read a story about a brave little turtle. Everyone listened carefully, their eyes wide with wonder.
Then they drew pictures of their favorite parts of the story. Lily drew a big turtle with a happy face and a colorful shell.
Mrs. Smith collected the pictures and said, “These are wonderful! You all did a great job!”
Once they finished their drawing, it was finally time for recess! Lily, Jake, and Emma ran outside to the playground. They climbed on the swings and slid down the big slide. They laughed and played tag until it was time to go back inside.
The first day of school was so much fun! Lily felt happy and excited. She knew she would have many adventures this year with her friends and learn lots of new things.
At the end of the day, Lily hugged Mrs. Smith and said, “Thank you for today! I can’t wait for tomorrow!”
As she walked home with her mom, she smiled. “I love school!” she exclaimed, dreaming of all the fun things to come.
And that was the first day of school for Lily and her friends!
