# Lesson Introduction: Exploring Technical Language in Non-Fiction Texts

## Welcome to the World of Technical Language!

Good morning, young explorers! 🌟 Today, we are going to embark on an exciting journey into the realm of **technical language** found in **non-fiction texts**. But before we jump in, let’s set the stage for our adventure with a fun and interactive activity!

## The Mystery Box

### What You’ll Need:
- A box (you can use a shoebox or any other container)
- Several objects related to science, technology, or everyday items (like a magnifying glass, calculator, glue gun, light bulb, etc.)
- Paper and pencils for notes

### Activity Steps:
1. **Mystery Box Reveal**: Start by showing the students the mystery box without revealing its contents. Ask them to imagine what could be inside and list down their thoughts on paper. Encourage creativity—anything they think of is welcome!

2. **Object Exploration**: Next, take out one object at a time from the box, and as you do, ask the students to guess what the object is and share how they think it’s used in the world of science or technology.

3. **Technical Language Challenge**: For each object, after discussing, introduce a few technical terms that relate to it. For example, if you pull out a **light bulb**, you might explain terms like **incandescent, wattage**, and **filament**. Write these words on the board and explain each meaning in a simple and engaging way.

### Discussion and Connection:
Once all objects have been explored, guide the students to reflect on how specific words help us understand what we are discussing. Ask questions like:
- Why do you think scientists use special words?
- How does technical language help us explain things more clearly?

## Transition to the Lesson
Now that we’ve ignited our curiosity and learned about some technical words, we are ready to dive deeper! Today, we will learn how to identify technical language in non-fiction texts and use it to make our writing stronger.

Are you all excited? Let’s get started! 🚀
