Procedure

Introduction (5 minutes)

Greet the students and introduce yourself
Introduce the topic of the day: Solar
Ask the students if they have heard of the Solar System before

Presentation (15 minutes)

Explain that the Solar System is made up of the Sun and the eight planets that orbit it
Show pictures of the Sun and the eight planets, naming them as you go along
Use the flashcards to reinforce the names of the planets
Draw a simple diagram on the board to show the Sun in the center and the planets orbiting around it
Explain that the Sun provides light and heat to Earth

Activity (10 minutes)

Divide the students into small groups
Give each group a set of flashcards with the names of the planets
Ask them to arrange the flashcards in the correct order, starting with the planet closest to the Sun
Walk around the room, offering assistance and feedback as needed

Conclusion (5 minutes)

Ask the students if they enjoyed learning about the Solar System
Review the names of the planets and their order in the Solar System
Explain that they will have a worksheet to complete as homework

Homework

Print out the worksheet and distribute it to the students
Instruct them to color the picture of the Solar System and write the names of the planets in the correct order
