  1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

    • Ask students to brainstorm what they know about Europe.

  2. Introduction (5 minutes)

    • Show students a map of Europe.
    • Ask students to identify any countries or cities they recognize.
  3. Identifying Countries and Cities (10 minutes)

    • Show students an index card with the name of a country/city.
    • Ask a student to come up and find the location on the map.
    • Have the class label the location on their own maps.
  4. Learning About Each Country and City (5 minutes per country/city)

    • Show students images of landmarks and cultural aspects of each country/city.
    • Discuss with the class what they notice about each image.
    • Guiding questions: What does this tell us about the country/city? Is this something unique to this country/city?
  5. Comparing Countries and Cities (5-10 minutes)

    • Split students into pairs.
    • Have each pair choose two countries and create a chart comparing culture and landmarks.
    • Give enough time for students to research and create a chart.
    • Choose a few pairs to present their charts to the class.
  6. Homework (5 minutes)

    • Hand out the homework worksheet.
    • Ask students to complete the worksheet by identifying and labeling five countries and three cities.
    • Encourage students to research the landmarks and culture of each location.
