Objective:

Students will be able to identify the main characters, plot, and setting of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Materials:

Hook:

Begin the lesson by asking students if they have ever heard of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Ask if they have read the book or seen the movie. Give a brief introduction to the story to generate interest.

Lesson:

  1. Review the concept of setting. Ask students to identify the setting of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Write the setting on the whiteboard: Narnia.
  2. Introduce the main characters: Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Peter, Aslan, and the White Witch. Hand out descriptions of each character to each student.
  3. Read a brief excerpt from the book to introduce the plot.
  4. Have students work in small groups to create a plot diagram of the story.
  5. As a class, review the plot diagram to ensure understanding.
  6. Have students complete a character analysis of one of the main characters.
  7. Go over the character analyses as a class.
