Procedure:

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

• Begin the lesson by asking students if they know what matter is.
• Write the definition of matter on the whiteboard: "Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space."
• Ask students if they have any questions or if they would like to add anything to the definition of matter.

2. Properties of Matter (10 minutes)

• Ask students to name some properties of matter (e.g. color, shape, texture, density)
• Write down their answers on the chart paper.
• Explain each property in detail and give examples.
• Show objects of different states and ask students to identify their properties.

3. States of Matter (10 minutes)

• Discuss the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
• Explain each state in detail and give examples.
• Show objects of different states and ask students to identify their state.

4. Conclusion (5 minutes)

• Recap the definition of matter, the properties of matter, and the states of matter.
• Ask students if they have any questions or would like to add anything.
• Hand out the worksheets and give them 5 minutes to complete it.

5. Homework (5 minutes)

• Assign homework to the students: Create a poster explaining the three states of matter. The poster should include pictures and descriptions of each state.
