Objective: To introduce the students to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and her unique style of art.

Materials Needed:


Teacher shows the students an image of Frida Kahlo and asks them if they recognize her. The teacher tells the students that Frida Kahlo is one of the most famous artists from Mexico.


The teacher proceeds to give a brief lecture on Frida Kahlo's life, artistic style, and some of her most well-known paintings. The lecture touches on Frida Kahlo's love for nature, animals, and Mexican culture, and how these were often expressed in her artwork. The lecture also covers some of the challenges that Frida Kahlo faced throughout her life, such as her health problems and her tumultuous marriage to fellow artist Diego Rivera.


The teacher hands out worksheets with questions about Frida Kahlo's life and artwork. The students work individually or in pairs to answer the questions.


The teacher asks a few students to share what they learned about Frida Kahlo. The teacher emphasizes the importance of appreciating different styles of art and different cultures. The teacher also encourages the students to try incorporating some of Frida Kahlo's unique elements into their own artwork.
